Who We Are

Harding Loevner LLC, an SEC-registered investment advisor, provides investment management to non-profits, retirement plans, private clients, and wealth managers. We serve individual investors through the Harding, Loevner Funds, Inc. family of mutual funds. Founded by former global investment managers for the Rockefeller Family, we manage $6 billion in international, global, emerging markets, and related equity strategies.

When they launched the firm in 1989, Daniel D. Harding, CFA, and David R. Loevner, CFA, drew upon their well-developed investment philosophy and a wealth of experience in global equity markets. During their decade as investment managers with Rockefeller & Co., they led the internationalization of the Family's extensive investment program. Shortly after founding the firm, Harding and Loevner were joined by Simon Hallett, CFA, who on behalf of Hong Kong-based Jardine Fleming Investment Management, had also managed assets for the Rockefellers. Loevner and Hallett continue to lead the firm in the roles of Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer, respectively, while Harding serves as an advisor.

As an independent, employee-owned firm, the professional culture is that of partnership; employee turnover is low, management positions are generally filled through promotion from within, and everyone's focus is on long-term goals, both individual and collective. Prominent among these goals is achievement of investment performance. The firm's resources and attention are devoted overwhelmingly to investment research and decision-making, as opposed to sales and marketing to prospects.

Our staff of 40 includes 16 analysts and portfolio managers and three traders.
